Outdoor Play
At Wyke Community and Children's Centre, we place a strong emphasis on providing children with ample opportunities for outdoor play in both our nursery and pre-school rooms. We firmly believe that outdoor play is essential for children's development, allowing them to explore, establish rules, build resilience, stay active, unleash creativity, practice new skills, understand risks, engage their senses, and form valuable friendships and relationships. Moreover, regular outdoor play promotes overall well-being and self-confidence.

Our carefully planned outdoor space in the Pre-School room is designed to provide children with a stimulating, dynamic, and captivating environment. This space offers a diverse array of activities and resources that ignite children's imaginations and foster independence in directing their play and pursuing their individual interests.

It's worth noting that this playground is shared with the nursery, ensuring a seamless transition for children who won't need to adjust to a different outdoor environment. They will have the continuity of the same familiar and engaging space as they progress from nursery to pre-school. Children have the opportunity to engage in play on a spacious hard surface area, a sprawling grassy expanse with steps and a hillside for added adventure, a mud kitchen for sensory exploration, a large sandpit for creative building, a water play area for aquatic discoveries, a nature tunnel for exploration, a substantial ground-level trampoline for active fun, a fire pit for cozy gatherings, underground tunnels for imaginative play, and several tree houses for elevated adventures.
